Description
A 2-story, 2-bay brick building, expanded to the north by a second 2-story brick building. The windows have fixed glass blocks, as does the door surround on the ground floor.
Detailed History
La Blanche Beauty Salon appeared in the Green Book between 1947 and 1955 along with several other buildings in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue that were associated with businessman Willie Adams. The salon was also a beauty academy for training others in hair styling and cosmetology. The shop was owned by Blanche V. Dixon, who between 1918 and 1945 was married to William Dixon, an associate of Willie Adams. Now the Capital Lounge.
