Description

The hotel was designed by architect Oliver G. Traphagen and opened in 1901. Classic Hawaiian architectural elements such as the open air lanai (a veranda without doors) and the rooftop garden are included in the building. (Images of America Waikiki Kai White & Jim Kraus 2007)

Detailed History

Described in Stockton (CA) Record as "reasonably priced, friendly informality" is a 6-story hotel with "old fashioned cupolas and a porte cochere that was built at the turn of the century." (May 20, 1953 P. 38) Now called the Moana Surfrider a Westin Hotel resort.
