Detailed History

According to two undated ads, provided by Brian Katen of Virginia Tech, Mrs. Lucy A. Brown was the proprietor of this tourist home, which offered a beautiful view, old Virginia cooking, hot and cold water, and city light. It operated from May 1 through November 30 of each year, and also included a tennis court, open air pavilion, and mineral water. The business was always listed in the vacation section of the Green Book. It apparently closed due to the death of its owner. Phil James, Secrets of the Blue Ridge, believes that the building is gone and is working to verify that information.
