Detailed History

Paul's Inn is cited in an accident report from 1943, identifying a young Black man, James F Hammond, as the cause of an auto accident that took place nearby. He was on his way to "a roadhouse known as Paul's Inn on Route 33". The name of the business changed after the Green Book ceased publication. In about 1970 the tavern became "Club 8".
