Description
All three Pine Oaks are probably the same site. It was listed on Route 460 from 1950-1953; Hwy 460, Pine Oak Heights 1956-1959; 1016 E. Main Street 1960-1961. Highway 460 is Main Street. Pine Oak Heights is along Main Street.
Detailed History
An undated matchbox cover found online says "R.H.Hale, prop., Route 2, box 46 - where good friends meet to eat and drink." The current address of the property is 37 Hale Avenue. It is still in the Hale family and is operated as apartments today. According to Lena Hale, all four Hale brothers had businesses in the Roanoke Valley and Salem.
