Description

According to a Buffalo Sanborn Map last updated in 1951, the lounge was located in a three-story building with composition roofing on the east side of Michigan Avenue between Cherry Street and Goodell Street.

 

Detailed History

In 1943, a liquor license was awarded to Edward R. Trapp for 757 Michigan Avenue. By 1957, Sperry’s Lounge was established as a dance hall and lounge under the ownership of Nicholas Sperry. His son Anthony Sperry also helped operate the business. The lounge was sold in 1963 and the former location is now under NY 33, constructed in the 1960s.
