Description
As shown on the 1914-1951 Sanborn Insurance Company Map Sheet 187, 1500 Argyle Street is labeled as “S in D” with the house address on Mosher Street shown as 630. Baltimore’s rowhouse builders capitalized on the need for commercial spaces that fit into residential blocks, and having the commercial space on the side street allowed for ingress/egress without affecting the residential part of the building. The building was demolished in the Upton Urban Renewal Project and it has become the Upton Court Apartments.
