Description

Standing on the southwest corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Baker Street, the building has a canted corner entrance.  It is a 4-bay building of 3 stories and a 1rear 3-bay addition.  The 1st floor is clad in brick.

Detailed History

In the 1940 Baltimore C&P Telephone Directory, the business is called Vilna (not Velma which is a misspelling) Tavern at 2242 Pennsylvania Avenue at the Baker Street intersection, and according to an ad in the Afro-American Newspaper, it served seafood. Now the Calabar Grill.
