Detailed History

The White Wall Motel was actually the White Hall Motel, also known as the White Hall Cabins, the White Hall Motor Court and the White Hall Motel and Restaurant. The information was incorrect in the Green Book listing, likely reflecting a "word of mouth" passing of information.

The White Hall Motel was constructed in the early 1950s by Martin B. Corman and his wife; the couple, with their daughter, Geraldine, lived in the Bronx and opened the property seasonally. As reported in the Littleton Courier, the family were avid supporters of the region, were often present on site during the summers, and continued to upgrade the property. Geraldine acted as assistant manager. This property was one of several the Cormans owned, including the Bel Air Motel, which stood nearby. Geraldine Corman Krebs sold the property in 1964 when family obligations required her to remain in New York full time.

Historic photos of the property are held in the collections of the Penobscot Marine museum and can be viewed here and here. Today, the property is abandoned and falling into ruin.
