Though nothing is known about this inn or its owner. It is possible that the building was one of two surviving houses located on Mashamoquet Road, about a half mile west of the intersection of Routes 44 and 101: either it was present-day number 161 - a large house built c.1820 - or present-day number 201 - a vernacular farmhouse. More research about this overnight guest house for African Americans in the quiet northeast corner of the state is needed.
