Detailed History

Adams Cocktail Lounge was a late nineteenth century single family dwelling that Irvin Adams purchased, expanded, added on to and remodeled over the years. It opened first as a bar in 1938 and then expanded it further to be a dining room, lounge and stage.  Singer Pearl Bailey appeared here on July 18, 1942, and was photographed with Margaret Adams during a break. The building was closed in 1988 and demolished in 1990. Adams also ran a liquor store that was located next to the Anthony Theatre on Main Street.
