Description

Bonita Beauty Shop was in a three-story building located on the northeast corner of William and Bennett. It was one of a number of commercial buildings lining William Street, and it neighbored a warehouse and numerous dwellings down Bennet St. The street numbers changed from 154 on earlier Sanborn maps to 254 on the 1925-1950 version. 

Detailed History

Located in a business district on William Street. The beauty shop was a part of Buffalo's East Side African  American community and hosted community events including hairdressing demonstrations and galas for local African American beauticians. Currently, there is a new house located on the lot.
