On June 24, 1950, Willie Mays played his first professional baseball game as the center fielder for the Trenton Giants, a farm team for the New York Giants (now San Francisco Giants). The Giants played against the Hagerstown Braves, a Boston Braves farm team at the Hagerstown Stadium.
Description: 

The American major leage baseball teams were segregated until 1947 when Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers.  By the time Willie Mays joined the New YOrk Giants in June 1950, the Indians, Browns, and Giants had all added African American players to their rosters.  Mays played for the Black Barons and had played at the Hagerstown stadium in 1948.
