Catherine Ireland (maiden name: Shobe) was born around 1807 in Virginia to Jacob and Mary Shobe. They moved to Ohio sometime in the 1810s, and her father died around 1823. She married Charles Ireland in Ross, Ohio, on November 25, 1830, and they had at least nine children: Mary, born around 1831; Sarah, born around 1833; Christina, born around 1835; John, born around 1837; Ester, born around 1839; Jacob, born around 1839; Elizabeth, born around 1842; Lucinda, born around 1845; and Eloisa, born around 1847. They lived in German, Ohio, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1850, they owned $1,400 of real estate. A decade later, they owned $4,000 of real estate and $800 of personal property. She died in Ohio around 1900.
