Dear Cousins
with great pleasure I seat my self to drop you a few Lines to Let you know that we are all well and sincerly hope those Lines may find you enjoyeng good health
I received your most Welcom Letter dated 21 the 29 and was glad to hear from you I received a Letter from you some time a go but neglected writing so you must excuse me this time I received a Letter from Allen Bybee a week or so after the Battle stating the Death of dear Cousin Levi he said he had received a Letter from me to Levi that day but it was too late it was very sorrowful news to me for I thought a greateal of Levi it was a great pleasure / for me to write to him and receive Letters from him but I can receive no more now we will have to give him up Although it is hard it makes my my har hart bleede when I think of it he was a going to send me his Mineature in a short time but I did not get it I would been very glad to got it
I have got a good many Letters from Levi it Apears very Lonesom now to not get any more if you will send my Likeness back you may for I would Like to have it because Levi had it with him I would Like to have one of Levis Likenesses but I supose you would not give one of them up
Cousin Norman & William was here and paid us a short visit and then went on home they was pretty tolerable keen to get home we could not get them to stay any Longer /
Lucinda I think you and Mary had better get on the cars and come in and pay us a visit I think you could pass the time off better and it would not Apear so Lonesom to you Well I must bring my scribeling to a close excuse this poor writen poor spelt and poor got up Letter so no more write soon from your cousin Sue

Dear Afflicted Brother and Sister and friends we all Lament with you the Loss of your Son but dear brother and sister put your trust in the Lord and he will give you grace to bear your trouble we have not had but one Letter from John and Isaac sence the battle we do not know the reason wether they cannot get through or not we got a Letter from Jacob the other day he is well except a bad cold he said he got a Letter from John and they was well then John and Isaac was in that battle / they was in 3 days hard fighting they said they was under a cross fire all day on Sunday Mother is gone to Samuel Sholes now she is well and hearty there was a dredful Axident hapend in Lima the other day there was a child burnt to death she was 6 years old the daughter of John Cliffinger he is a Brother to Luther Cliffenger the child was a cross the street where they was a building a brick house and they supposed she was a playing with shaveings in the fire and caught fire and her close all burnt off her before they could get it out she had on cotton flannel drawers and they burnt off she was burnt so bad that the blood could not sirculate she lived from thursday evening untill Friday evening
I have no more to rite this time
