Lucinda Ireland was born around 1844 in Ohio to Charles Ireland and Catherine Shobe. Her father was a farmer who owned $4,000 of real estate and $800 of personal property by 1860. She married William Holmes around 1867, and they had five children: Emmet, born around 1868; Alice, born around 1871; Karl, born around 1876; Katherine, born around 1879; and Charles, born around 1883. They lived in German, Ohio, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1870, they owned $700 of personal property. They moved to York, Ohio, in the 1870s, and then Liberty, Ohio, sometime in the late 1800s. By 1900, her husband was working as a saw mill operator. A decade later, they were living in Lima, Ohio. Her husband died around 1925, and by 1930, she was living with her son Charles in Lima. She died sometime after 1930.
