Louise Simon was born on May 5, 1849, in Rhode Island to Henry and Catherine Simon. Her father was a jeweler who owned $6,400 of real estate by 1860. Her father served in the Union army, and he died on October 6, 1864. She grew up and attended school in Providence, Rhode Island, and by 1870, she was working as a milliner.
She married Phanuel E. Bishop on November 23, 1875, and they had at least two children: Ernest, born around 1877; and Daisy, born around 1878. They lived in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and her husband worked as a physician. She died on July 11, 1888.
