Julia F. Hensley (maiden name: Beaumont) was born on April 20, 1837, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Franklin Beaumont and Phoebe Greenleaf. Her father was a farmer who owned $3,000 of real estate and $4,000 of personal property by 1860. The family moved to Texas sometime in the 1840s, eventually settling in Lavaca. Julia married Travis Hensley there on October 5, 1858, and they had at least six children together: Sarah, born around 1859; William, born around 1861; Phoebe, born around 1863; May, born around 1865; Julia, born around 1868; and Mary, born around 1873.
Her husband served in the Confederate army during the Civil War, returning home in the summer of 1865. By 1870, they owned $4,000 of real estate and $2,000 of personal property. Her husband died on November 15, 1873. She eventually moved to Dallas County, Texas, and in 1900, she was living with her adult daughters Phoebe and Julia. She died in Dallas County on March 29, 1915.
