William Martin Booher was born around 1799 in Tennessee. He married Rhoda Hampton, and they had at least three children, including Elizabeth, who was born around 1827. They moved to Franklin, Indiana, around 1834. Rhoda died in November 1838, and he married Lydia Cox on April 30, 1840. They had at least five children: Rhoda, born around 1841; Martha, born around 1844; Albert, born around 1846; Mary, born around 1849; and Orfa, born around 1852. Booher worked as a farmer in Franklin, and by 1850, he owned $5,000 of real estate. His wife Lydia died around 1854. By 1860, he owned $9,000 of real estate and $3,500 of personal property. A decade later, he owned $2,000 of real estate and $8,000 of personal property. By 1880, he was living in his daughter Martha’s household in Franklin. He died there on June 28, 1883.
