Adelaide Crossman (maiden name: Isham) was born around 1837 in Williston, Vermont, to Franklin and Rebecca Isham. Her father was a farmer who owned $800 of real estate by 1850. She grew up and attended school in Williston. She married Ferdinand Crossman on April 2, 1855, and they had at least two children: Sarah, born on March 10, 1857; and George, born on November 4, 1858. They lived in Sutton, Massachusetts, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1860, they owned $2,000 of real estate and $200 of personal property.
Her husband served in the Union army, and he died at Andersonville Prison in August 1864. She married Frederick P. Burr on June 12, 1866, and their daughter Ida was born around 1871. They lived in Sutton, and Burr worked as a farmer. By 1870, they owned $1,900 of real estate and $900 of personal property. They moved to Bennington, Kansas, in the 1870s. She probably died in the late 1800s.
